EDGE Program Online Coach E-Assessment Word Families Antonyms and Synonyms Homophones Orally Reading novels of different genres TEXTBOOK: EDGE by Hampton Brown DESCRIPTION: The curriculum will address each student’s IEP Goals and Objectives uniformly with the Albuquerque Public Schools District and State Language Arts Standards which includes: Strand 1- Reading Process Strand 2- Reading Analysis Strand 3- Expressive Language: Writing Strand 4- Expressive Language: Speaking Strand 5- Receptive Language: Listening and Viewing Strand 6- Research The areas of emphasis in this course are: the basics of grammar, punctuation, and the building of vocabulary by means of decoding and phonics, as well as, developing sentence construction. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT POLICIES: While in class students are required to follow these class rules: 1. Be in class when the final bell rings 2. Respect other students’ property 3. Show respect towards each other 4. Keep your hands to yourself The following are the consequences of NOT following the above rules: 1. Name on the board Warning 2. One Check Loss of 2 minutes of passing period 3. Two Checks Loss of 4 minutes of passing period 4. Three Checks Call Home/Referral to the office EVALUATION: Students will be assessed using a variety of tools. Students’ grades will be based primarily on their IEP goals and objectives and standards but will also be based on and include the following: 1. Daily Participation 80% of grade 2. Class work 10% of grade 3.Homework 10% of grade GRADING SCALE: 90 - 100 = A 80 - 89 = B 70 - 79 = C 60 - 69 = D 59 < = F
