Each question is to be a minimum of 7 sentences with concrete support from 
the story to justify your response.  THIS IS INDIVIDUAL WORK.

	Whose REALISM is being addressed?

        What assumption is given on the freedom and restriction of her life?

	How does the point of view influence the narrative?  Is she 
trustworthy in her narrative?

	How does setting inform and enlighten the woman’s character?

HW:  “The Lottery”  SS Read the story and identify the STYLE of the author 
using both DIDLS and Formal, Informal, Colloquial.  How does the STYLE 
support the suspense and intent of the story?
This assignment was not given due to xerox copies not done.  No Homework

T/W:  Discussion of Ch 1 – 8 on The Turn of the Screw  look at Ambiguity 
		Criticism (HO) “ Young Goodman Brown: The Evil Within Us”
			
			What does the article discuss about Hawthorne’s use 
of 					Ambiguity?   
                           What is the theme and how does ambiguity support 
or 					distract from it?
                           What does the article discuss about narration and 
how it 					supports the theme?

                             Innuendo
          How do these two terms describe James’ style in The Turn of the 
Screw?

In the chapter number that is the same as your table, find a passage that 
represents James’ statement “atmosphere of the mind”.  Address the 
following:  Does it add or subtract to the narrator’s reliability?   
                   How does James’ style (DIDLS) affect the atmosphere and 
tone of the passage?  Do an analysis where each table member addresses one 
part of DIDLS.  

Write out the passage on a separate page.  Include your responses.  Remember 
to show, support and prove.
