Sports Medicine Syllabus and Parent letter
Mr. Hogan, Room D-33, Periods 3,4,5
Introduction:
I am Mr. Hogan; I am the instructor for the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training
Classes Level I and II for both First and Second semester. The course will
cover the basic issues relating to today’s young adults in the athletic
setting. These issues are as follows but not necessary in this order, body
systems, mental and physical health, First aid and CPR, nutrition, drugs and
tobacco. Beside areas mention, the students will also will start to learn how
manage and tape athletic injuries.

You will be able to contact me by several ways.
1. Will be in the classroom D-33 from 9:00am to 1pm M-F.
2. Or by phone, during the times mention above in point #1 at 345-9021
ext. 82255 (phone number of the athletic training room).
3. I will be in the athletic training room M-F from 2pm to 5:00pm. If
not schedule to be at an athletic event as the Athletic Trainer.

Grading Scale and Classroom requirement
The graded scale is as follows:
A = 100-90
B = 89-80
C = 79-70
D = 69-60
F = 59 – below
The classroom requirements are as follow: Classroom book brought to class
everyday, paper pen or pencil and notebook will be needed daily in class.
Classroom work, test and homework will be based on a point system and the
value of these assignments will vary thru the course. The grade for the
grading period will be calculated of total points earned divided by total
points of the grading period. The semester grade will be calculated by 28 %
of each of the 6 week grades and 16% from the semester exam. A daily
attendance in class is required because daily work in the classroom will make
up a large percentage of the students grade for this class. Homework and
outside the classroom projects will make up the rest of the student grade for
each of the six week grade.
