Does Ms. Mick accept late work?
No. Ms. Mick expects students to come to class prepared
everyday. Work is accepted when Ms. Mick collects the first
time, no excuses.
Does Ms. Mick allow students to do make-up work?
Of course! If a student has been gone from school for a
legitimate reason they will be given a reasonable amount of time
to recieve and turn in make-up work. Students and parents must
understand that sometimes classwork cannot be made up, for
instance a group activity, a video, or an in-class assignment.
Who is responsible for make-up work?
The student is responsible for make-up work. The student needs
to ask Ms. Mick for make-up work the day they return to class.
Students who wait a few days or weeks to get make-up work will
not recieve credit for their work. Make-up work needs to be done
in a timely fashion, and it is the student's responsiblity.
Should students put their names on their papers?
Yes! First and last names are necessary everytime a student
expects a grade or credit for their work. NO NAME, NO GRADE.
Are students expected to be on time for class?
Of course! It is intrusive when students are showing up late on
a regular basis. Students need to be in class and prepared
everyday. Excessive tardies will be dealt with on an individual
basis.
It is especially an issue in the morning! Parents it is your
responsibilty as well as the students to make sure they are in
class on time.
How can I reach Ms. Mick if I have any questions?
Ms. Mick can be reached at mick@aps.edu if you have internet
access.
Ms. Mick can be reached at 345-9021 ext. 82175 during school
hours, a message can be left on voicemail.
Parents may also send questions or concerns in writing, via their
student.
How often should I check my child's progress?
Each student has a planner with a place for weekly progress
reports. I am more than to happy to fill these out once a week
if the student asks me to. Fridays are usually best for this
unless their are unusual circumstances during that week.
How often is this website updated?
As often as possible. I hope this means at least once a month or
at least once during a six week grading period, sometimes once
every week or so.
What can I do to bring up my grade?
Are you attending class? Are you paying attention and taking
notes when you are here? Are you doing all of your homework and
turning every assignment in on time? Are you keeping track of
your assignments and keeping up with your notebook? Are you
asking questions when you don't understand something? Do you
come in during tutorial to see Ms. Mick when you have questions?
Are you attending the afterschool tutoring?
If you answered all of these questions yes, then you should be
making a decent grade already. If you answered no to any of
these questions then you have your answer. You know how to
improve your grades...don't wait until it's it too late.
