My name is Michele Barr. I will be your child's Grade One teacher this year.
Before I was hired by Bedford Academy, I worked for the Halifax Regional
School Board. Our family relocated to Halifax four years ago after spending
the last decade living overseas and in the United States; however, we are
originally from Vancouver Island where I received my Bachelor of Education
degree with a specialty in Elementary Curriculum at the University of
Victoria. I have two daughters who are in fifth and eighth grade as well as
a son in first grade. My husband is an English professor at Saint Mary's
University. When I'm not busy parenting or teaching, I enjoy reading,
knitting and running.
I would love to meet all of you in person so please stop by and introduce
yourself when you have a moment. In addition, you are always welcome to
volunteer in the classroom as your schedule allows. If you ever have any
questions or concerns about your child's experience in class, please don't

I am excited to start my fourth year at Bedford Academy where I look forward
to working with your children. We're going to have a great year learning
