Users of the Centre
Users The Yarmouth Teachers' Professional Centre (hereafter referred to as
"THE CENTRE" is open to teachers and employees of the Tri-County Regional
School Board in good standing* and currently dealing with educational programs.

Hours of the Centre
Monday to Thursday: 2:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Friday: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
THE CENTRE is closed on storm days, holidays, district and provincial
in-service days, and during the afternoon prior to major holidays and the
provincial in-service day. Summer hours are different.
Admittance to the Centre
Volunteer workers have the authority to refuse entrance to anyone believed to
be trespassing, or to cause to leave THE CENTRE, any person who refuses to
abide by the policies of the Tri-County District School Board or the Teachers'
Professional Centre.
Please note: Children are not allowed in the Teacher's Professional Centre at
any time.
Lending Materials from the Centre
Theme kits, books, videos, and other materials which are borrowed from THE
CENTRE must be signed out in the Policy Handbook on the administration desk.
The lending period for theme kits is one week; for books and other materials,
the lending period is two weeks.
Books and videos should be reshelved by the borrower when they are returned
and the date of return should be recorded in the Policy Handbook along with
the teacher's initials.
Theme kits should be returned to the volunteer on duty who will check the
contents of the kits against the enclosed list of contents, notify the teacher
and Management Committee Chairperson of missing materials, record the date of
return and reshelve the kits. Theme kits may be reserved in advance by calling
the volunteer on duty between 2 and 4 p.m.
Journals, computer software, manuals, and unused consumable materials are NOT
to leave THE CENTRE.
Meetings at the Centre
Meetings may be scheduled in THE CENTRE on a first come - first served basis,
prior to meeting date. A monthly calendar is on display in the meeting room
for this purpose. The Management Committee is not responsible for conflicts
arising from a failure to preschedule meetings.

*Money should be deposited in money box in the YTPC.
Constitution of the Centre
Constitution of the Centre
Article I The purpose of the Teachers' Professional Centre shall be to help
educators towards more effective instructions by offering support in
curriculum materials, production, resource distribution and professional
development.
Article II A management committee shall make policy for the Teachers'
Professional Centre as well as direct the on-going activities at the Teachers'
Professional Centre.
Article III The Management Committee shall consist of one representative from
the Tri-County Regional School Board, a representative of the Yarmouth
District Local of the N.S.T.U., one from each school in the region which
wishes to be represented. The Management Committee will also include, the
coordinator of the Retired Teachers, the coordinator of the After Hours Club,
the coordinator of the Sunday Night Club, if these people are not already
representing a school.
Article IV The Management Committee shall have a Chairperson, a Treasurer and
a Secretary elected from amongst its members.
Article V Meetings of the Management Committee shall take place each school
month except December and March.
Article VI The Chairperson shall conduct meetings of the Management Committee
according to Parliamentary Procedures. The Chairperson shall vote on a motion
only in the event of a tie.
Article VII A meeting of the Management Committee shall not begin until a
minimum of seven members are present.
Article VIII The Treasurer of the Management Committee shall give a report of
the financial accounts of the Teachers' Professional Centre three times a year
at the September, January and May meetings of the Management Committee. The
secretary shall distribute minutes of the previous meeting prior to the next
Committee meeting.
Article IX There shall be various standing and ad-hoc sub-committees operating
under the direction of the Management Committee. Each of these committees
shall give a report on their activities at the regular meeting of the
Management Committee.
Article X The financial accounts of the Teachers' Professional Centre shall be
audited every third year by an accountant chosen by the Management Committee.
Article XI In order to make changes or additions to the above articles, a
formal motion must be presented at a regular meeting of the Management
Committee and be passed by a 2/3rds majority of those present and voting at
the next regular meeting.
Article XII The Teachers Professional Centre is open to teachers and employees
of the Tri-County Regional School Board in good standing* and directly dealing
with current educational programs.

Article XIII Volunteers shall consist of presently active and retired teachers.
