FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
  1. Where will the class meet on the first day of school?
  2. What if my child rides the bus to school? May I drive my child on the 1st day
  3. How much help should I give my child with homework?

Where will the class meet on the first day of school?

We will all meet on the school playground, on our yellow classroom 'DOT 74',
that is painted on the ground near the building double doors. The bell to
begin our new school year will ring at 9:05 AM. I will be waiting to meet
our class right on the yellow dot at 9:05AM! Then, we will all walk into our
Room 74 together, where each child will find a special new 1st grade desk!

What if my child rides the bus to school? May I drive my child on the 1st day

Our principal, Mr. Rekrut, has asked us to remind all parents of bus riding
children to make sure to put their child on the bus on the 1st day of
school! This is most important, because the children will then learn which
bus to take both to school and home. The bus drivers will be color-coding
with wrist bands, so that each child will be placed safely on the correct bus
upon departure for home. You might want to follow the bus to school and meet
your child as the children disembark from the bus at school. Please do the
same for the return trip home on that first day of school.

How much help should I give my child with homework?

Our first grade homework will begin on the second week of class. It will
come home on Monday, to be completed and returned in the homework packet
envelope on Friday. I encourage you to provide any assistance needed in the
form of guidance to complete the tasks. I don't want your child to struggle,
but to move smoothly through each assignment. So, be there to help them, as
they do the work. Just make sure that they take ownership of the projects.
