Students who wish to improve their dancing, singing and performance skills
may enroll in this class. Students are required to dress out for scheduled
choreography days. Students are required to perform in 2 concerts per
semester and may be asked to perform in elementary and middle school
recruitment tours. Emphasis is placed on gaining stage presence and
performance skills, development of appropriate and efficient vocalism,
theatrical, musical and movement terminology, historical aspects of the
American Musical Theater genre, music reading, dramatic interpretation and
other aspects of music and movement. This class is open to all students
grades 9-12 (advanced open to those who successfully audition for director
and are accepted) and fulfills a 1 credit towards the P.E. requirement for
graduation. A $30 lab fee will be assessed.
Students will receive a performance dress and props for performance once the
lab fee has been paid. Students must provide their own dance shoes (tan
character heels), and
flesh colored dance tights for rehearsals and concerts. These items can be
ordered from me at the beginning of the year.
