Students who wish to improve their singing, dancing, and performance skills
may enroll in this class. Students are required to dress out for scheduled
choreography days. Students are required to perform in 2 concerts per
semester and may be asked to perform in elementary and middle school
recruitment tours. Emphasis is placed on gaining stage presence and
performance skills, development of appropriate and efficient vocalism,
theatrical, musical and movement terminology, historical aspects of the
American Musical Theater genre, music reading, dramatic interpretation and
other aspects of music and movement. This class is open to all students
grades 9-12 (advanced open to those who successfully audition for director)
and (after the required Freshman Personal Fitness requirement is met)
fulfills 1 credit towards the P.E. requirement for graduation.
A $30 lab fee will be assessed.
Students will receive a performance dress and props for performance once the
lab fee has been paid. Students must provide their own dance shoes (tan
character heels), black halter top leotards, and flesh colored dance tights
for rehearsals and concerts. These items can be purchased on your own or
ordered through the class upon enrollment.
