Students in my math class will be given a packet of homework each week on Friday and will need to return it on the following Friday. Homework will be a review of previously covered topics.
We just finished studying fractions and probability.
We are now moving on to geometry. I have offered any student who would like to work ahead of us the opportunity to do so. Also, we have skipped some lesson in the book and any student who would like to earn extra credit is welcome to complete these lessons for extra points.
The class has begun timings which we take two times per week. We are finishing our addition and subtraction timings and will begin multiplication February 1st.
English/Language Arts
Each week students will be given a new list of spelling words. They are required to complete worksheets for each lesson and also work in their spelling journals. In the journals they are to choose three activities and complete these in the journals. Please help to make sure that they are completed. The tests are on Tuesday with the new words being given that day also.
We are using the Open Court reading program as our textbook. We are also writing, doing handwriting, and working on phonics. We have been reading various books for the last few weeks. We read some about the Underground Railroad, Harriet Tubman, and Ruby Bridges. Our last one was Josephina's Quilt.
