Hello 3rd Grade Family!

As you know we have a short and unique week ahead of us! There
is NO SCHOOL Wednesday, November 11th due to the observance of
Veteran's Day. Enjoy your "Hump Day" off with your student!

Our story for the week is "The Stories Julian Tells." The story is a realistic
fiction selection. The story is about a boy that makes friends with a neighbor
that has just moved in next door. This week we will focus on sequencing the
story using time-order words. Ask your student to retell the important events
from the story using first, next, then, and finally. In mathematics, we
reviewed important concepts from the Topic 4 test. The students will be
retaking the test on Tuesday to improve their score. We have also started
Topic 5 which covers that much anticipated topic....Multiplication! We will
be learning how multiplication and addition are related as well as learning to
draw multiplication arrays. Please have your student regularly practice
multiplication facts using flashcards, games, and internet activities to work
toward mastery. In science we will conclude our investigation of rocks and
minerals with a project.

Next week we will be meeting to conduct parent-teacher-student conferences.
Most of you have scheduled a time and received a confirmation letter. If you
have not, please check with your student to complete the form to let me know
of your availability. I am looking forward to meeting with you to discuss
your student's progress thus far this school year!

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Armstrong
