What do you expect when I hand in my homework?
Unless otherwise instructed, all written assignments should be completed on
a loose-leaf sheet of paper to be submitted. Any class lectures or notes
should be written in your notebook while all class handouts should be placed
in your binder.
Chapter assignments should include: chapter title, section headings, and
page numbers. They should be composed in pen and not pencil.
Answers to the questions should be written in complete sentences by
restating the question. The only exceptions are defining terms.
Skip lines between section headings and between questions and be neat. These
homework assignments will be useful in helping you prepare for tests and
quizzes.
When given a homework packet it is your responsibility to know where that
packet is. If you lose your packet you will be assigned a detention and
given a new packet. There are no exceptions.
What should I do if I am absent?
If you are absent, I expect you to remain caught-up on class assignments. It
is your responsibility to obtain any papers or handouts from the class
folder or from the website that you might have missed. If a test was given
on a day that you were absent, you should take the test the day you return
to class or make arrangements to take the test within 2 school days.
Remember that being absent already puts you behind, so try to make up the
work as quickly as possible (extended absences will be dealt with on an
individual basis).
If you miss class because of a scheduled music lesson, please see me on that
day in order to get any notes, handouts, or assignments. Do not reschedule
music lessons during your history class.
Where can I find the handouts or notes that I missed in class?
In the front of the classroom there is a hanging file folder, it is
separated by days of the week. If you missed a specific day look in that day
and pull out the materials that you do not have. It is your responsibility
to get any materials that you do not have. The materials in class will be
posted on the website as well. The website attachments are cleared at the
end of every unit.
What are some classroom rules and expectations?
1. Be to class on time: Lessons will begin at the bell. You are expected to
be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings. Remember Early is
on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable. If you are late to class
without a legitimate excuse you will make up the time with me after school.
2. Please no food in class: It can be very disruptive. You are allowed to
have bottled water.
3. Respect others: Inappropriate comments will not be tolerated. Be
considerate of yourself and others and work cooperatively in pairs and in
groups.
4. Be prepared: You are expected to have your homework, notebook, binder,
textbook, and a pen when you arrive in class. You will NOT be allowed to go
to your locker once class has begun.
Each individual class has also gathered some rules and have hand wrote them
down on the last page of the syllabus.
