A message from the President…
Welcome to another school year at Arlington High School. My name is
Pattiann Adams and I’m very happy to be returning this year as PTSA
President.
I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready to jump into the new
academic year! We especially welcome our new students and parents.
Your PTSA board will be working hard on your behalf this year. We will
continue to sponsor the Small School Initiative Committees, which plan
activities for each grade level, encouraging each student to be involved in
a social activity with their classmates and enhancing the “small school
within the large school” feel. We were able to support this by helping
sponsor the Link Crew, which is a new mentoring program to help students
with their transition into high school.
I urge everyone, students, faculty and parents alike, to join the PTSA.
Your nominal membership fee automatically makes you eligible to receive
emails. These communications will keep you informed of the building
expansion progress as well as important information from the PTSA and
forwarded information from school administrators, the guidance department,
and key communications from Arlington’s central office via Newsflash. In
addition, the greater our membership numbers, the greater our strength as we
advocate for student needs at the district level.
Last year we assisted in the funding of Rachel’s Challenge. We are proud
to help bring this inspirational program back to AHS on 9/24/08.
In addition, we will continue to sponsor events such as the annual Winter
Craft Emporium (12/07/08); Math, Science & Technology Expo (3/21/09); the
Art Fair (3/28/09); and the Reflections contest (this year’s theme
is “WOW”)!
Please know that we are here to serve you. If there is anything you are
concerned about, do not hesitate to contact a member of the PTSA board. We
welcome everyone to attend our monthly meetings. It is a great way to hear
about what’s happening at AHS! The PTSA meets at 7pm the 3rd Wednesday of
every month in room 2326. This year’s dates are: 9/17, 10/15, 11/19, 12/17,
1/21, 2/18, 3/18, 4/15, & 5/20.
