Message from the Principal

Welcome to the Arthur S. May School! We are a K-5 school with approximately 500 students. At Arthur S. May School, our goal is helping students become successful learners. Our Arthur S. May AMAZING ACHIEVERS program creates ways to recognize individual and group success. Our PTA supports the Arts-In-Education programs that frequent our school. These programs become a celebration for our AMAZING ACHIEVERS.

Martin Luther King Celebration

January 7, 2010

Dear Key Communicators,

We invite you and the entire Arlington community to attend Arlington’s 6th Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Wednesday, January 20 (snow date January 21) at 7:00 pm in the Arlington Middle School auditorium. Join us for an evening of music, dance, art, and drama as students and staff from throughout the District celebrate Dr. King’s vision for racial equality and justice. More than 250 Arlington students and faculty will take part in the tribute. This year’s special guests will be the Dutchess Antislavery Singers. Founded by the Mid-Hudson Antislavery History Project, the group has been researching and performing abolitionist music from the antebellum United States since 2007.

The program will include Arlington High School’s award winning Jazz Machine, as well as the District Select Chorus, the Arlington High School Step Team, and performances by students from Overlook Primary and LaGrange Middle Schools. The program is free and the entire community is invited to attend the celebration.

***DATES***

There has been a change to the 2009-2010 Arlington School Year Calendar. The Superintendent’s Conference Day originally scheduled for Friday, April 23 has been moved to Monday, April 19. Teachers will attend on April 19, but school will not be in session.

The change was made in consideration of the state tests, which were moved by the NYS Education Department from January to April. This change will allow for greater educational continuity the week before the tests.
