Welcome to the AMS website! At Arlington Middle School, "we provide a secure, healthy environment that fosters intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. We encourage a variety of experiences, opportunities, and services in a supportive, structured community. We are committed to excelling while remaining flexible in responding to our dynamic society."

Arlington Middle School embraces the concepts of "Building the Right Stuff." Students are expected to demonstrate respect, responsibility, safety, and integrity in our school. Staff will help students by teaching and modeling how to meet these expectation at the beginning and throughout the school year. Special posters are displayed throughout the school to remind us all of the expectations for proper behavior.

RESPECT: Showing high regard for school staff, school property, and the school community.

RESPONSIBILITY: Meeting obligations for school including being on time, having materials to be a successful student, doing all assigned work and following school rules.

SAFETY: Protecting you, others, and the environment from harm.

INTEGRITY: Adherence to a code of values, honesty, and sincerity. A person with integrity is someone who stands up for what is right, is a friend to others, and displays honesty.

Thank you to students and parents for supporting the four pillars of our school community. Together, we can make this a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Carroll and Mr. Hackett

Commissioner King's Message to Parents and Students
Welcome back from Commissioner King
The message for students is “Work Hard, Get Smart.” Commissioner King asks students to think about challenging themselves with reading and writing this year and to make a persuasive argument on a topic they really believe using evidence to make their case. King urges parents to “dive into their students’ school experience.” He suggests that parents ask their children, “What did you learn today? What does that mean?” He asks both students and parents to “take every advantage of the learning opportunities in the year ahead.”

Traffic Flow at AMS

For the safety of students and to improve traffic flow, parents are asked to enter via the arterial entrance (South) only when dropping off or picking up students. Please exit by Evelyn Way (North) only. Students are not to be dropped off before 7:00 AM. Please use caution and do not leave car unattended when using the drop-off area in front of the school.

SchoolMessenger

Since December, the Arlington Central School District has been using the SchoolMessenger Notification System. We use School Messenger to phone you about student absences, school closings, delays and early dismissals, and to remind you about school activities and important dates. This communication tool will also be used in the event of an emergency. A message describing the event or providing specific instructions can be created and sent within minutes of its occurence. HOW DO I SIGN UP? If you have already set up a contact Manager account, congratulations! It will remain active for as long as you have a child in and Arlington School. For Arlington employees, your account will remain active for as long as you are employed by the district. If your child is new to Arlington schools or if you have not already set up a Contact Manager Account, you will receive instructions and personalized activation codes by the end of September. We will also be contacting staff with information to set up an account. Once you receive this letter, please sign up without delay!
