Do you celebrate birthdays?

Yes, We do celebrate birthdays during our snack time. There are
23 children in the class. If you would like to send in a treat, please
send in a note ahead of time so that we may pick a convenient day.Individual
healthy treats work well and are easy to distribute. We are encouraging
healthy snacks such as popcorn, snack mixes, pretzels rather than cupcakes
and
sweeter treats. You may also want to consider pencils, stickers or even doing
a craft.

Does my child have homework?

Each Monday a packet of the weeks suggested activities will come home that
will be a review of the concepts that we are studying and will also have
their new spelling words and other reinforcement activities. The assignments
should
be returned to school daily in their homework folder. These will be corrected
daily and put back in their folder to return home the same night. The
homework may be completed ahead of time if needed due to busy schedules but
should be completed and turned in by Friday.
Children are expected to read for 15 minutes each night and
record it in their reading log. Please help your
child be a responsible student by having them return their books and folders
each day.As part of their homework, twice a week, students will be expected to
write a short response to the book that they read which will be part of the
suggested activities.

Do you have parent volunteers in the classroom?

Absolutely! Parent volunteers are an important part of the classroom and are
always welcome. There are many special activities that we do that need an
extra set of hands and there are also daily activities that I will need help
with. If you are willing to come in and help out, please contact me and we
will make the necessary arrangements. There are also many jobs that can be
done at home if you are not able to help out in the classroom.
