We hope you enjoyed the typed stories that the children brought home to
share with you. They worked very hard using graphic organizers to develop
their ideas. The children are learning to use different organizers for idea
development. We are working on adding voice and varying their choice of
words to make their pieces even more expressive. They are off to a great
start! Please continue to have meaningful conversations at home that might
help foster new story ideas.
The children have been introduced to non-fiction text features that will
deepen the understanding of information. They are so enthusiastic about
sharing books that contain these features in a variety of ways. Encourage
your children to read non-fiction books at home. They are welcome to bring
these books in to share with the class.
In math the children are engaged in using bas ten manipulatives to help
strengthen and deepen their understanding of place value. Each day the
students are coming up with fabulous equations to represent our numbers for
the day. We are so proud of the creative ways they are representing these
numbers. They are certainly challenging themselves!
