About The Teacher

Mr. Schmitt is a sixth-year teacher at Arlington High School; however, this
will be his eighth year in the classroom. Mr. Schmitt attended Providence
College where he majored in History and Secondary Education. He also
completed his Masters’ Degree at Stony Brook University in 2007. Mr. Schmitt
taught middle school level social studies for two years on Long Island in the
Smithtown and Sayville school districts before he made the switch to
Arlington CSD.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Schmitt also coaches girls varsity lacrosse at
Arlington High School. He was fortunate enough to be a part of the first
League Championship for the Arlington High School boys lacrosse team in the
spring of 2007 and a big sectional win over Wappingers in the spring of
2009. Mr. Schmitt also coached volleyball at LaGrange Middle School, and he
coached girls JV basketball at AHS from 2007 until 2009. He also coached
girls freshman basketball in the 2010-2011 school year.

Mr. Schmitt is the proud owner of two Basset Hounds named Gus and
Maddie. Please vote for them during this year's annual ASPCA Fund Raiser.

Mission For The Class

This year in Global Studies 1R & 2H students will gain invaluable knowledge
and understanding about the world outside of the United States. Students
will diligently work through thousands of years of history in order to
become more well-rounded young adults and informed citizens in our ever-
shrinking global village, also known as planet earth.
