Welcome Team 5 students and parents!
This area will be used to communicate assignments, due dates, test dates, and
other vital information.
Please check regularly (at least on Mondays). I will have plans for the week
listed here, and you will be
able to plan for assignments and tests well in advance.
Feb 13-16:
We will be working all week on creating a project booklet on science fiction.
Instructions are available on my assignments/outlines page in case you need
extra copies to work at home. *All titles and graphics are available in
class, and the written work may be handwritten! There is NO requirement for
use of a computer for text or graphics. Therefore, all work should be
completed according to directions and on time. Computer lab time will be
given on Monday 2/13 and WEd 2/15. PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL WEDNESDAY
2/22. WORK SUBMITTED AFTER 2/22 WILL BE PENALIZED.
*Your focus should be on the written assignments. Please be sure to include
required details and meet minimum word counts. A rubric was included with
student handouts in class.
*****************************iZINE*******************
Our next iZine assignment is a review of a movie, book, product, song, video
game or television program related to your iZine theme. The review should be
about 250 words and should include at least one graphic, a headline and a
byline. Due date will be FEB. 24.
INDEPENDENT READING
Also, we will be completing some independent reading this year. We'll explore
books as well as magazines of interest to students. Our first reading task
will be to see if we can find magazines on topics that truly interest us. One
trip to Barnes & Noble or a public or our school library will show you that
there are many, many magazines on a wide variety of topics. I'd like you to
choose a few that are of interest to you--sports, computers, ATVs, dance,
paintball, music, history, writing, reading (yes, they have those!), art,
etc. and bring them to class on Monday Sept. 19th. Your choices do NOT
have to be current issues! Just see what is out there in areas you may be
interested in.
Our reading will be related to a year-long iZine project that will be
explained in great detail in class. We
will be working on reading, writing, and research while we are creating our
own personal magazines on
topics we each choose.
I think you will really enjoy it!
