INFORMATION for INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTSGENERAL INFORMATION INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS HEALTH APPRAISAL REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS GRADES 7 AND 8 - Any student who wishes to participate in interscholastic sports this fall must have a sports-oriented physical examination and evaluation; this exam is valid for one year. A student’s initial physical for sports must be performed by the school examiner. Any subsequent sports physical done outside the school must receive prior authorization from the Health Office. To arrange a sports physical in school: 1. Students should pick up the Athletic Health History form at the Health Office 2. This needs to be completed and signed by a parent/guardian. 3. Return the form(s) to the Health Office by May 1st. Sports physicals are now being scheduled in the school health office through May. If your child wishes to have a physical, it must be completed this spring. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse at 845 – 486-4885.
There will be no physicals given during the summer vacation.

Girls Soccer
Cross Country is a distance running competition on courses which average one and one half miles. There are approximately eight meets during the season.
The Football program is a modified B program for all boys in grades seven and eight. The team is comprised of boys form Arlington Middle School as well as LaGrange. The season runs from the first week in September until the second week in November. The students will ride the 4:15 PM bus after practice.
Soccer
Boys: Each Fall, starting the first week of school, all seventh and eighth grade boys are eligible to try out for the LaGrange Middle School Soccer team. Girls: In March all seventh and eighth grade girls are eligible to try out for the LMS team. The teams play a twelve game schedule and practice is every day from 2:10 PM to 4:00 PM. Games start at 4:15 PM.
The Volleyball team is open to all seventh and eighth grade girls interested in a higher level of volleyball competition. Tryouts are held the first week of school in September. The coach can keep upwards of twenty players, ten girls each on an A Team and B Team. The season is comprised of fourteen matches and will run until the second week of November. Practice is held each day, sometimes until 3:10 PM and most of the time until 4:00 PM.
The LaGrange Girls Basketball Team consists of approximately fifteen to seventeen- seventh and eighth grade girls. Practices are held daily and about fourteen games are scheduled throughout the ten week Winter sports season. Tryouts for the sport are held in late November and each girl must receive a physical in order to participate.
The LaGrange Boys Basketball Teams is open to all seventh and eighth grade boys. Tryouts are in late November. Boys must have a school physical and be prepared to attend five or six days a week. Boys who make the team will compete against other school teams in the area.
Wrestling is a very demanding and athletic sport open to all boys in grades seven and eight. The season runs from the last week of November until the middle of February and consists of daily practices until 4:00 Pm and ten matches versus other schools. Boys weight reduction or gain is watched very closely and they will only wrestle boys within ten pounds of their weight.
Boys Baseball
The Boys Baseball Team is for all seventh and eighth grade boys. Tryouts are in mid March. Boys must have a school physical and be prepared to attend five or six day a week. Boys who make the team will compete against other school teams the area.
Girls Softball
The Girls Softball Team is for all seventh and eight grade girls. Tryouts are in mid March. Girls must have a school physical and be prepared to attend five or six days a week. Girls who make the team will compete against other school teams the area.
Spring Track and Field
Spring Track and Field runs from mid March to early June offering seventh and eighth graders a wide range of athletic opportunities. The purpose is to encourage each students leadership potential, establish self discipline and improve self esteem through athletic endeavor.
