SchoolMessenger Has Replaced Newsflash!

SchoolMessenger Has Replaced Newsflash!

Since December 2010, the Arlington Central School District has been using the SchoolMessenger Notification System. We use SchoolMessenger to phone you about student absences, school closings, delays and early dismissals, and to remind you about school activities and important dates. This communication tool will also be used in the event of an emergency. A message describing the event or providing specific instructions can be created and sent within minutes of its occurrence.

Contact Manager Expands Flexibility and Accessibility
SchoolMessenger has replaced Newsflash! In order to receive messages via email or text messaging, sign up for a Contact Manager account! In addition to receiving phone calls, through SchoolMessenger’s Contact Manager you can also choose to get your messages via email and/or text messaging. Contact Manager allows you to select which types of messages you would like to receive and at which phone number or email address. If you choose not to set up a Contact Manager account, you will only receive messages on your home phone number. You will not receive emails or text messages until you activate Contact Manager.

How do I sign up?
If you have already set up a Contact Manager account, congratulations! It will remain active for as long as you have a child in an Arlington school. For Arlington employees, your account will remain active for as long as you are employed by the district. If your child is new to Arlington schools or if you have not already set up a Contact Manager Account, you will receive instructions and personalized activation codes by the end of September. We will also be contacting staff with information to set up an account. Once you receive this letter, please sign up without delay!

GENERAL INFORMATION INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS - JANUARY 2012

GENERAL INFORMATION INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS
GENERAL INFORMATION INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS GRADES 7 AND 8 - Any student who wishes to participate in interscholastic sports must have a sports-oriented physical examination and evaluation; this exam is valid for one year. A student's initial physical for sports must be performed by the school examiner. Any subsequent sports physical done outside the school must receive prior authorization from the Health Office. Students may check the lists posted throughout the school to determine their need for a sports physical. To arrange a sports physical in school: 1. Students should pick up the Athletic Health History form at the Health Office 2. This needs to be completed and signed by a parent/guardian. 3. Return the form(s) to the Health Office by February 6th. Physicals for SPRING SPORTS are scheduled to begin February 8th. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse at 845-223-8600, extension 119.

UVMS PTA - UVMS LIBRARY // BOX TOPS FOR BOOKS DRIVE!

DO YOU SHOP ON-LINE?

If you shop online at home, you can help our library earn money for books.

By entering the website of Box Tops For Books and then shopping your usual stores, UVMS Library can earn a percentage of your sale. It doesn't cost you anything, and can help provide us 3-20% of your sale! You can click here and see the stores that participate. http://www.boxtops4education.com/Marketplace/Default.aspx

The coming school year is presenting budget cuts all around. In February 2011 - 18 school days, we had 5418 students visit the library, and we had 1218 books circulate. We would hate to see those numbers drop because we are not able to keep our collection current.

We appreciate whatever you can do for us! THANK YOU!!!!!

** Don't forget to cut those Box Tops from your grocery items. Last year those 10 cent coupons brought in over $600.00 for books for our library = our students! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
