Homefun!

Are you ready to PLAY!?!

Homework is called Homefun in Mrs. Hodaba's class. She provides students
with games and centers that they can take home and PLAY! Each night students
bring home a game to play. These games directly relate to our learning in
the classroom.

So, how long should Homefun last? Mrs. Hodaba requires that each student
work on their game for the same number of minutes as in their age. Set a
timer and when it rings, their obligation for Homefun Games is DONE!

Of course, if a child CHOOSES to continue to play their games, why should we
stop them?

In addition, students are expected to read for at least twenty minutes every
night. Again, every child has a choice about HOW to read:

Buddy Reading: Take turns reading with a friend, sibling, or parent
Independent Reading: Read alone or to a friend, sibling, parent, or pet
Choral Reading: Read simultaneously with a friend, sibling, or parent
Computer Reading: Go to Mrs. Hodaba's website and pick a reading option
online
TV Reading: Turn on the Closed Caption option on your television and even the
most reluctant reader is reading!

Again, the children will record what they read, how they read, and who they
shared their reading with at home and in class the next day. Come into
school ready to talk about your books! That's the best part of reading,
when you can share with a friend!

If your child wants more to explore, you can always use this web site to
enter a world of discovery!
