What happens if my son/daughter does not do their homework?
Homework not done because of forgetfulness is an automatic zero. Students
need to be responsible for all their work. Many times, things arise that are
out of our control. This is understandable. If there is a reason why your
son or daughter could not do his/her assignment, a note from his or her
parent/guardian (with a signature) must be given to me at the beginning of
the class stating why the assignment was not done. Only with a letter, will
the student be given an extra day to hand in the assignment.
What happens if my child cannot find an article for their Current Event?
Students can click HEALTH LINKS on my TeacherWeb to find articles. However,
many times, things arise that are out of our control. This is understandable.
Please write a letter stating why your son or daughter may need to be excused
from the assignment or needs an extension. A parent signature NEEDS to be on
the letter. Also, students who are having trouble finding an article can
always ask me for one - I have many copies!!
Do you give tests/quizzes?
Yes, announced and unannounced quizzes are given in each unit. A UNIT Test
or Project is given also at the end of each unit.
How do you grade work?
Most assigments are by the point system. Depending on what is given, most
assignments are based from 100%. Unit Tests and Projects are counted twice.
How can I, as a parent, know what grades my son/daughter is receiving?
Each student is given a GRADE SHEET at the beginning of the semester.
Students will record every assignment, test, quiz, current event, report, or
project grade on this sheet. Each student keeps their grade sheet in their
pocket folder on the inside left pocket.
**Parents are encouraged to monitor their child's progress**

concerns. I will return your call within 24 hours. OR if you prefer, you can

here you can type an email and it will go directly into my school email

Do you give a Final Exam at the end of the semester?
YES. A final cummulative exam is given at the end of the second quarter and
the fourth quarter. A review packet is also given to each student to study.
How does my child make up homework due to illness?
Homework missed for an absence must be made up. One day absent equals one-day
makeup - two days absent equals two days to make up, etc. All work missed is
the responsibility of student to obtain from teacher/classmate.
Lengthy absences will be discussed between teacher, parent, and student.
