Activity	Description
Settling-in Time	Students are asked to put away their belongings and hand in any notes before they may have play time.
Group Time	This is when we take attendance, discuss the calendar and weather, read the daily news and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Shared Reading	This is usually a big book, poem, rhyme, list of things or literature selection.
Small- Group Instruction	This gives the students the opportunity to work with the teacher in small groups. This also allows the teacher to provide differentiated instruction based on the childrens' abilities.
Whole-Class Activity	This is a teacher-directed activity where the whole class is working on the same activity. This may include writer's workshop.
Seat Work & Centers	We usually have activity centers related to letters or other reading, math and fine motor activities, as well as play activities such as housekeeping, block corner, puzzles, etc.
Wrap-up/Recess	Clean-up, final story, review, wrap up.
