I received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from
Dutchess Communtiy College and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, K-6 from
SUNY Oneonta. I have been teaching in Arlington since 1985. I received my
Master's in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education in
1990. I began teaching Kindergarten at LaGrange Elementary and then taught
first grade, a first/second combo and second grade. This September (2011) I
will be starting my 26th year in Arlington! It will be my 8th year at Vail
Farm Elementary.
I have two children, Michelle and Anthony. We also have two golden
retrievers, Sandy and Sugar, a mixed fox and keyhound named Sheba and two
cats named Sydney and Selena, ALL GIRLS!
We have one goldfish named Shamoo and Anthony insists that it is a boy
goldfish! I love Arlington so much I move into the district when my children
were ready to start school. Michelle is now a freshman at Siena College in
Albany and Anthony is a football playing Sophomore at the High School.
Living out here I bump into former students all the time and what's really
cool is that many of them are married with new little ones of their own! It
won't be long before I start having some of them in my classroom! Pretty
amazing, huh?
They tell you time flies and it certainly does, but I still love teaching and
the kids as much as I did when I first started!
I enjoy cooking, walking, bike riding, swimming, spending time with my
family, visiting book stores and libraries and READING BOOKS, especially
mysteries.
To create an environment for children to become "risk takers", "thought
sharers" and to create an environment where everyone feels a part of the
community.
