Mrs. Sowul (pronounced like "Soul") graduated from Arlington in 1999. She
played flute starting in fourth grade, and added piccolo in high school. She
was a longtime member of the Wind ensemble, orchestra, and Admiral marching
band (and any other ensemble that would let her in). She has a Bachelor's
degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and
a Master's degree in Humanistic/Multicultural Education from SUNY New Paltz.
She has been teaching band in Arlington since 2003 and is honored to be
serving the music program that once served her so well.
Mrs. Sowul teaches 4th and 5th grade band and lessons at Beekman and Vail
Farm Elementary Schools. In addition, she teaches private flute and piccolo
lessons to elementary through high school students.
Mrs. Sowul lives with her husband (also a music teacher) and two cats, Ari
and Miles. In her spare time, she loves to read and write, run and bike, bake
cookies, and travel. On her iPod, she has everything from Percy Grainger to
Charlie Parker to Lady Gaga.
