COCOA AND CRAM
Students taking the Global Studies I or Spanish
midterm are encouraged to attend the after school study session in cafeteria B
on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Hot cocoa will be provided.
GLOBAL STUDIES I MIDTERM
All students taking Global Studies I will have a
midterm on Wednesday, January 18th with a snow date on Thursday, January 19th,
2012. A study guide has been provided. It is strongly recommended that flash
cards be used to prepare for this midterm. Each term, question and important
figure should be put on one side of the flash card with the definition, answer
or description on the other side.
JANUARY 2012 EXAM WEEK

to view a copy of it. Students should only report to school on Tuesday,
January 24, 2012 through Friday, January 27, 2012 if they have an exam to take
on that day. In an event of a 2-hour delay, exams will be held as scheduled.
Regents and RCT exams will be cancelled if school is closed due to a weather
emergency while local exams will be rescheduled as indicated on the exam
schedule.
ARLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY ONLINE DATABASES
The Arlington High School library has online
databases available to students for at home or school use. These databases are
useful when researching a topic. To access these databases at home, students
need to provide a password. The password
page of the library web site provides a
list of required passwords. Enter admirals2012 in the view password box to
access these passwords.
WRITING CENTER OPEN!
Arlington High School now has a writing center open
every period of the day and staffed by an English teacher. Please encourage
your child to visit the Writing Center for assistance with writing assignments
including DBQs, thematic essays, research reports, critical lenses and college
application essays. Your child can ask his/her classroom teacher or myself for
a pass to attend the Writing Center on a free period (lunch, study hall, study
time). It is located in room 1449 next door to the Math Learning Center.

LIBRARY HOURS
Our Arlington High School library is open Monday -
Friday from 7:00am - 3:10pm with evening hours on Wednesday and Thursday until
8:00pm. The library closes at 2:10pm on days preceding a school holiday or
when there is a faculty meeting after school. An announcement is made during
homeroom if the library will be closing early.
TRANSFERRING DIGITAL FILES BETWEEN HOME AND
SCHOOL
A link to the Moodle site that allows students to
transfer files between home and school can be found by clicking on Moodle
Home to School Digital File Transfer. This link can also be found on the
left hand side of the Arlington
High School home page. When signing in, enter the same username and
password you use at school. The directions are available when you login and
can also be found on my Handouts page.
COMPUTER LABS
AHS has two computer labs for students' use. One is
located on the west side of the building in room 1502, and the other is on the
east side in room 1225. The labs are open from 7:20 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. every
day. In the event that there is a meeting after school or no school the
following day, the computer labs will close at 2:10 p.m. There is always a
morning announcement when the computer labs will be closed after school. The
computer labs can be used before and after school and during a free period
(study hall, lunch, etc.). A black and white and color printer is available in
each lab for students' use on school projects.
