I would like to welcome you and your child to fourth grade. I hope that you
had a wonderful summer.
I will use this page to give a brief overview of the curriculum that we will
be covering for the week. I will do my best to update this page at the
beginning of each week. Approximate test dates will also be provided on
this page. I will try to be as specific as possible with these dates, but
it will depend on whether we have covered the necessary curriculum previous
to the test. I will try to provide the specific test date on the "News
Flash" page which may be updated more than once a week. Homework
assignments will not be posted on the website. It is your child's
responsibility to make sure that all of the assignments are written down in
his/her assignment pad and that all of the necessary materials are brought
home.
Here is the message for the week of February 13th. In reading, we will
continue Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. In math, we will keep working on
the second multiplication of larger numbers unit which involves multiplying
two digits by up to four digits. As for social studies, the students are
working in groups to research and design a poster based on an explorer. In
science, the students will continue seeing Mr. Scagnelli for a unit on the
states of matter. There will be a quiz on Tuesday, February 14th.
We have had many illnesses in our class recently. Please encourage your
child to wash his/her hands frequently. I have been discussing this with the
students here at school. Hopefully, everyone will be healthy soon!
Since it is winter, even if it hasn't felt like it, if there is ever a snow
day on the day that we are supposed to take a test, the test will take place
on the next school day. Also, PARP (Parents as Reading Partners)is now in
its third week. Finally, there is no school for the students this Friday,
February 17th for a staff development day, and there is no school next
Monday, February 20th for President's Day. Thank you and have a great week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Venier
