Remeber the rules for forming the passé composé:
1) Choose the helping verb (h.v.)
AVOIR (most verbs)
2) Conjugate the helping verb (h.v.)
AVOIR - j'ai, tu as, il/elle/on a, nous avons, vous avez ils/elles ont
ÊTRE - je suis, tu es, il est, nous sommes, vous êtes, ils / elles sont
3) Put the action verb into the past participle (p.p.) form
-er => -é
-ir => -i
-re => -u
***most irregular verbs have irregular past participles
4) make the past participle (p.p.) agree
a) with the subject if être is the helping verb
b) with the preceeding direct object if avoir is the helping verb
c) with the reflexive pronoun UNLESS there is a direct object used with the reflexive verb
