What are the consequences for chewing gum in chorus class?

You could choke!! Don't do it! AFTER - SCHOOL Detention will be assigned to
those students who have gum, candy, food or ice in their mouths during chorus.

How can I get to be in SCMEA Chorus?

Practice, Practice, Practice! Students can only be recommended for SCMEA
Chorus if they have sung a NYSSMA Solo. I need a NYSSMA rating to put you on
the recommendation list for SCMEA.

What's a NYSSMA Solo and how do I get one?

NYSSMA stands for New York State School Music Association. Every spring they
sponsor a Solo Festival where students can go to sing their prepared song for
a judge. In January we begin preparing NYSSMA solos for the spring festival.
Make sure you sign up in January and then I'll help you choose a song.

Should I take singing lessons from a private teacher?

If you are interested in improving your voice and/or preparing for a career
in music you should study with a private teacher. When you work with a
teacher on your own he/she can focus on your voice and ensure that you
improve as quickly as possible.

What else can I do to become a better musician?

The best thing you could do to become a well rounded musician would be to
learn to play the piano or keyboard. It's easier to learn when you are still
young and it's the instrument all musicians use.
