World History
Study of the major social, political, cultural, and religious
developments in world history involves learning about the important
roles and contributions of individuals and groups.
-Students analyze the roles and contributions of individuals and
groups to social, political, economic, cultural, and religious
practices and activities.
-Students explain the dynamics of cultural change and how
interactions between and among cultures has affected various cultural
groups throughout the world.
-Students examine the social/cultural, political, economic, and
religious norms and values of Western and other world cultures.

Listening and Reading
Listening and reading to acquire information and understanding
involves collecting data, facts, and ideas; discovering
relationships, concepts and generalizations; and using knowledge from
oral, written, and electronic sources
-Students relate new information to prior knowledge and experience.
-Students compare and synthesize information from different sources.
-Students use a wide variety of strategies for selecting, organizing,
and categorizing information.
-Students distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information and
between fact and opinion.
