Course: Journalism
Cathedral Prep Seminary
Teacher: Mr. Daniel O’Keefe, MA, MSEd
Purpose: This course is an exploration of journalism as well as the practical
application of what is learned in the classroom. Students will learn writing
skills, layout design, and desktop publishing. Students will demonstrate a
proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Course Requirements;
One article for the school newspaper per week.
One article for the school website per week.
One original creative writing piece per semester.
Students are encouraged to enhance their journalistic endeavors with
photography and/or artwork.
Grading: Grades will be based on completed assignments. Students are
expected to produce one school newspaper per month as a class.
Classes will meet in the Computer Lab unless otherwise noted.
