The physical education department for grades 5-8 creates a program where students can receive sequential instruction in a variety of activities, based on each student’s needs and interest. The types of activities are team and individually based, as well as cooperative and challenging. The activity goals are designed to meet New York State Learning Standards for Physical Education. Through each activity performed, each child’s cognitive (thinking), psychomotor (moving), and affective (feeling) domains can be enhanced; meeting the needs of the “whole” child. Given ample time to practice skills, students are ensured a sense of accomplishment.
