The PTA is the Parent Teacher Association. This is an organization joined by both parents and teachers in our school. The PTA raises money to provide enriching cultural arts programs for the students. The PTA also coordinates events like the Mother's Day Sale and Father's Day Sale so that the children have an opportuinity to shop for their parent/guardian, for low cost items.
PTA membership is open to all parents and teachers in the building. Dues are $7.oo per person or $12.00 per family. Follow the link to download a PTA membership form.
Yes. Memebrship in the PTA is open through the end of March in any school year. The membership runs from September 1 through August 31 of the calendar year.
SIT stands for School Improvement Team. It is a committee of school administration, teachers, aides and parents who meet regularly to discuss issues affecting the ECC.
PARP stands for Parents as Reading Partners. It is an event which commences in early March of each school year. The parents and children are asked to sign a contract wherein the parents and children agree to read a certain amount each night. PARP at the ECC also coincides with the Spring Book Fair. For 2010 PARP will also feature an author visit for the children. PARP is designed to promote literacy.
SEPTA stands for Special Education Parent Teach Association. There is a very active SEPTA in East Islip. For more information regarding SEPTA please contact their president, Boonie Buckley at Bonster827@aol.com.
FTK stands for For The Kids. This is an organization formed over ten years ago by East Islip parent volunteers. FTK raises money throughout the year by running a carnival and a Black Tie Gala and selling calendars. The money raised by FTK goes right back to the students in our district through the purchase of equipment, instruments, computers and a multitude of other items.
In the Spring, nominations open for all elected Board positions. Notice will be given out during the Spring. Each Board member serves for a one year term running from July 1 through June 30 of any calendar year. A Board member, if reelected, may serve up to two consequtive terms in the same office.
