Lesson 1:  Where do Organisms Live?

Organism- any living thing
habitat- the place where an organism lives
environment-  all of the things that surround an organism

Lesson 2:  How Are Organisms Adapted to Their Environments?

adaptation- a structure or behavior that helps an organism survive in its environment

Lesson 3: How Do Organisms Get Food?

Producer- an organism that makes its own food (plants)
consumer- an organism that eats food
food chain- the way food passes from one organism to another
predator- an organism that captures and eats other organisms
prey- an organism that is captured and eaten by another organism

Lesson 4: How Do Organisms Live Together?

population- organisms of the same kind that live in the same place at the same time
community-all the plants, animals, and other organisms that live and interact in the same place
