Fish Race Hall of Fame

What is a Fish Race?

Fish races are held the first school day of a new month. Each student designs a paper 'fish'. After they cut out thier 'fish', the students are selected to race in heats. They take a white board and try to fan their fish to the finish line. This is a bit more difficult than it sounds. The fish flail around and don't always go where you want them to. The winner of each heat gets to go the final race. The winner of the final race is the winner for the month!

The students see which designs work, and try to design a better fish each month. Anyone can win. Who will be the next????

October's Winner

Kate impressed us all by coming up with her unique design for her fish. She decided that a tube-like fish would be pushed by the air the fastest when she fanned it with the board....and she was right! She fanned her fish past all the rest to win the October title! Wonderful design, Kate!

November's Winner

Zoe pulled off the win for November. When we first set eyes on Zoe's tiny 'nubbin' of a fish, we didn't think she had a chance! But Zoe proved us all wrong by fanning her fish to the winner's circle time and time again!

December's Winner

Dylan's fish was made for speed. His loose circle of a fish had just the right shape to roll fast and straight. He was focused and determined and won the final race against Gigi. Great Job, Dylan!
