Every 5th grader takes 10 weeks (1 Quarter) of Computers. Throughout the quarter the students use Microsoft Office Word 2010 to master the alphabet keys on the keyboard. They participate in timed typing drilles to monitor their typing speed and accuracy. Students learn to identify and use proper proofreader's marks, learn to format, type, save, and edit documents. They are given instruction and will understand "Internet Safety" issues. Lessons and discussion about the potential dangers of sharing too much information using computers (social websites), cell phones, and the Internet are also topics that are covered.
