Unit 1 Week 1: "Frindle"
We'll finish reading the full novel of Frindle... it's better
than the abbreviated version in our reading textbook!
This will be the first opportunity the kids will have
to take an A.R. quiz on a book they have read.
This book is worth up to 2 points... depending on how
well the student does answering questions!
(REMEMBER: each 5th grade student is expected to earn at least
10 A.R. points per quarter. This will be reflected in quarterly averages.)

It's about a teenage boy that naively joins the Army during the Civil War.
Soldier's Heart is the term used then, for what we
today call Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
