Dear Parents,

This certainly is the perfect week-end to just relax, enjoy the snow, and do some reading!  I think it feels so nice to have a winter day.  I, for one, have missed them.  I am still holding out hope for at least one snow day.  We have a view of the lake and it does get exciting when we see those dark clouds moving in.

On Friday, February 17th, the afternoon class will be treated to a visit from a Pug puppy.  During our visit we will  learn about this type of dog, how it behaves, and how to take care of a puppy.  If you have any questions or concerns about this visit, please email me before Wednesday.  Also, if you would rather not have your child visit with the puppy, please let know.  If I do not hear from you, I will assume that you are comfortable with our visitor on Friday.

Tuesday, February 14th, is Valentine's Day.  A list of names from your child's class was sent home in last week's Daily Mail.  We will exchange valentine's with the children and have a little celebration.  I will provide a treat and drink for everyone.  If you are planning on sending in valentine cards,  please include them in the Daily Mail.  Mrs. Murphy and I will help the children who brought them in, pass them out during our Free Time that day.  Please know that it is absolutely fine if you chose not to send any valentine's in.

The remainder of the week we will continue our study of the African Elephant.  Comparing our hand and footprint with that of a baby and adult elephant, learning about the many ways the elephant uses his trunk, and discovering the difference between an Asian and African elephant.  The Wall Story presentations have been terrific!  Everyone has enjoyed hearing the stories and many wonderful comments and questions have been shared afterward.  I hope you have enjoyed them as they come home!  They really are quite creative!  I know the children that have already presented their stories, have been very proud of their accomplishments.

Remember that we are not in school during the week of February 20th, which is next week.  We will all come back on the 27th.

I hope everyone has a great week and a wonderful Valentine's Day with their family!!
