SNAPSHOT OF THE WEEK:
E.L.A- We are focusing on Informational Text (non-fiction material) Please
encourage your child to skim the newspaper, read appropriate magazines and
other forms of informational text. Ask them how informational text is
different from realistic fiction (which many are use to reading).
Monday's continue to be designated for E.L.A. Test prep. This week students
will be introduced to the very last part of the test. Students will also
begin learning test-taking strategies.
Math- Unit 3 Concentrating on measurement
Students will continue to practice multiplication facts during our 20 minute
math drills. This week students will learn multiples of 9. After this week,
students will know multiples of 0,1,2,5,9,10 and 11. Please encourage your
child to practice their multiplication facts each night. Multiplication is
Memorization!
S.S.- Ancient Egypt Unit; Students have learned some new vocabulary and their
definitions. We have also learned about the importance of pyramids. This
week, students will learn about the mummification process.
Science- We are taking a break this week.
Writing- Mini-lessons continuation of quotation marks. We just can't get
enough practice!!!
Students are writing their final drafts this week.
Cursive-We have finished our first cursive packet called Clock Climbers and
have moved into our second packet called the Loop Group. Students will be
introduced to the letter b, h, l, j.
JEFFERSON NEWS:
NO spelling this week!
No school Thursday and Friday! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
