This is my third year teaching at John Jay High School. Prior to coming to
John Jay I worked for 1 year as a self-contained Special Education Teacher
as well as 4 years as a Crisis Intervention worker for Dutchess County
Boces. I recieved my BS degree in History and Political Science from SUNY
Brockport and my MA in Secondary Social Studies/Special Education from Mount
Saint Mary's College. One of my passions is the exploration of other
countries and cultures. I have traveled to Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy,
Egypt, Israel, Norway, Belgium, Russia, France, and Canada. I use these
experiences to bring history alive in the classroom.
My mission for my classes is to make the study of history relevant for my
students. Reading from a textbook alone does not convey the importance of
history. The importance of history lies in the lessons it teaches us about
the past, the present, and most importantly the future. By helping students
make connections between past events and future possibilities, it enables
them to see not only the dangers but also the opportunities available to
them and to society as a whole.
