Reading Log

Each child in 4th grade is required to read at least 25 books 
throughout the school year.   Each book needs to be at least 50 pages 
long.  If a book is longer, every 100 pages will be counted as a book 
for each reading log and book due.  Some of the books that your child 
will read throughout the school year will be an Accelerated Reader 
book, also known as AR.  Note below when you will need to read an AR 
book.  There will be a total of 8 AR books to read.   These books 
have a quiz that will be taken at the completion of reading each 
book.  In order to receive credit for the book, each child will need 
to pass the quiz with a 60% or better for the book to count towards 
the goal of 25 books.  The school library and 4th grade teachers have 
numerous Accelerated Reader books that children can sign out to 
read.  Students will be required to read an Accelerated Reader book, 
take the quiz based on the book, and complete a page in their reading 
log.  Each quarter your child will also be required to read books 
from different genres.  The genres are listed below with a due date.  
You will find the due dates in which all activities need to be 
completed.  Due dates come fast, so students should be reading each 
night.  Don�t worry; teachers will be instrumental in helping each 
child in choosing appropriate books to read.
