What are the areas that go into the grade for the Report Card?

Students are graded on a Point System with the compositions and longer assignments weighted more than short in-class practice.

Frequent teacher-student conferences take place, and each student is given their current grades. In fact, students carry a copy of the same entries as the teacher's grade book. Parents and Guardians are encouraged to ask to look at that Grade Sheet to see how the grade is trending and what may be missing.

Can work be made up?

For English 10 Students: Yes; any one can get on board at any time. Of course, some
degree of lateness is reflected in the Faithfulness and Effort
category, but getting on board is more important than not
trying. The weekly Conference allows an excellent opportunity
for the student-teacher conversation to occur and an agreement
negotiated. Before and after school are also always options.

For Pre-AP students, assignments are expected on the due date. Lateness penalties will be announced assignment-by-assignment.
