What is the Learning Center?

The Learning Center is a room where students can go to receive help in 
English Language Arts (ELA) and math in a small group setting. The Learning
Center is not as busy or distracting as a typical classroom can be to
students.

Why does my child need to go to the Learning Center?

Your child may need to come to the Learning Center due to multiple measures 
showing that your child may need extra support. These measures consist of
state assessments, classroom-based measures, teacher recommendations, or
past student performance records and reports.

What are Academic Intervention Services(AIS) & Title I?

Academic Intervention Services (AIS) are services intended to help students 
achieve the State learning standards in English Language Arts (ELA),
mathematices, social studies, and/or science. AIS means additional
instruction which supplements the instruction provided in the general
curriculum and assists students in meeting the State learning standards.

What is No Child Left Behind?

No Child Left Behind (NCLB) is an educational reform effort that began from 
President Bush in 2001. NCLB is built on four principles: accountability
for results, more choices for parents, greater local control and
flexibility, and an emphasis on doing what is best based on scientific
research. Under NCLB, states are working to close the achievement gap and
make sure that all students achieve academic proficiency.

What is Fast ForWord?

Fast ForWord is a research based reading program that students actively 
participate in using a computer. The program develops, improves, and
strengthens the cognitive skills needed for students to build a solid
foundation for reading. The program can last from 8-12 weeks depedending on
the individual student.
