Call to Order

Meeting was called to order at 4:24pm by President Gayle Peryea.

Treasurer’s Report: Balance of $1,968.50

 

 

Secretary’s Report: “Thank You” was received by Christina Gay from Malone.  She thanked the organization for the scholarship to attend Crane Youth Music Camp.

Old Business

 

NYSSMA Library Music-  If you are interested in borrowing music from the NYSSMA Library for a fee (yearly covers all you that you borrow) contact: roger_wink@boces.monroe.edu

            Fees for 2009-2010 School Year:

                        Districts with fewer than 2,000 students- $643.71

                        Disctricts over 2,000 students- $1,287.41

New Business

 

NYSSMA (All-State)-  Congratulations to Malone’s Mitchell Vanier (trombone) and Chateaugay’s Ben Trombley (trumpet) for being accepted into Conference All-State (former CYM scholarship receipients). Chateaugay’s Michelle Swanston (French Horn) was chosen as an alternate.  Conference will be held on December 3rd through the 6th in Rochester, NY.

 

AREA ALL-STATE- Lynn Duwalt is the General Chairperson.

            Application deadlines were not known at the meeting but Gayle was going to look into information and send it to me to send out. (An e-mail has now been sent with the information.  Please contact me if you did not get it.)

            Chorus auditions will be “LIVE” again this year with two audition dates and times.

ALL-COUNTY:

            CYM Scholarship:  Packets will be e-mailed out to directors by Jeff S.  Winners will be selected at All-County Festival

 

            All-County Selection: Participants will be selected at the Area All-State Festival in North Eastern Clinton.  Applications will be e-mailed and can also be found on Jeff S.’s website under the FCMEA tab.

FCMEA WELCOME:  We would like to officially welcome Dave Scheiber to our group.  He is the new Chateaugay Choral/General Music teacher.

 

ATC Website: Sunny requested that I post our FCMEA forms on the Adirondack Teacher Website.

 

ALL-COUNTY BAND SELECTION PROCESS:  Director’s fill out paper audition sheets on their students rating them on Tone Quality, Rhythm, Leadership, etc.  The director’s then get together at Area All-State Festival and talk about how students should be seated.  When there is a tie in ability, schools are broken up to foster friendships outside of the student’s home school.

 

ALL-COUNTY CHORAL:  Paul emphasized that we need to double our efforts in getting young male singers to fill out the Baritone part.  Groups would like to sing SAB selections but this is often difficult due to low applicants for the Baritone part.
