Field Trips The kindergarten classes go on field trips during the school year. The field trips are a great way to enhance the kindergarten curriculum with hands on experiences that the children will remember forever.
Cascade Farm
The kindergarten children visit Cascade Farm twice each year (rain or shine).
Cascade Farm is located on Harmony Road in Patterson, NY!
The children ride the school bus to and from the farm.
In the fall, the children go on a hayride, make a scarecrow, pick a pumpkin, make apple cider and learn all about the important jobs the farmers do in the fall. They also learn about the animals that live on the farm.
In the spring, the children plant vegetables, visit the animals, go on a hayride and learn about the important jobs the farmers do in the springtime!
We are only allowed to bring 2-3 parents on the bus; however, all parents are invited to meet us at the farm (no siblings).
Patterson Firehouse
The kindergarten children walk to the Patterson Firehouse on Rt. 311 sometime during the month of October (Fire Safety Month). They learn all about fire safety and get to climb into the fire trucks!
All parents are invited to walk with us (no siblings). Please meet your child's class outside of the kindergarten entrance. We try to leave the building as soon as possible after attendance is taken.
The AM classes are dismissed from the firehouse. The buses meet us at the firehouse. Parents of children who are picked up every day should plan on being at the firehouse a few minutes early to pick up their children. The teachers will have sign out sheets.
PM classes will walk back to school for regular dismissal.
The Great Swamp
Toward the end of the year the kindergarten children will be walking with their classes to the Great Swamp across from the Patterson Rec Center to do what scientists do...use the five senses to learn about the world around them! If you would like to join us, please let me know!
