Fourth grade students are doing Recorder Karate . It is a fun way to build upon recorder skills learned in the third grade and a great way to learn new songs. With Recorder Karate, students get to earn karate belts based on their increasing skill level. Working at their own pace, students work towards earning a black belt in recorder. The belts are given in the form of a small piece of colored yarn, which children can fasten around the foot joint of their recorders. It's a great way to learn and enjoy the recorder!

Third grade students begin recorders in October. Learning the recorder is exciting! Students develop as musicians and also practice great habits such as teamwork, self-discipline and responsibility. In the spring they perform in a Recorder Demonstration. A recorder can be purchased from the school and all information about getting your child started is provided in a letter at the beginning of the school year.
