How do I join?

It's easy. Write a check for $7.00 per member to Medford Avenue PTA and send
it with your child to school ATTN: Medford Avenue PTA. You will receive a
membership card shortly thereafter.

Why should I be a member?

Being a member shows your involvement with your child's school and provides
funds to offer the children programs and events. Elementary years are the
most crucial in your child's life and being an active participant can make
all the difference in their success.

Can anyone join ?

How can I get involved?

We have PTA meetings once every month and everyone is welcome to attend. At
those meetings their will be sign up sheets for Committees. If you are
interested in helping or even being a Chairperson for the committee, you can
sign up on the sheets on the front table. You will receive a call to attend
a committee meeting, form a committee meeting, or an assignment to help with
the event. If you have an idea for an event, program, or even fundraiser,
please present those at the PTA meeting. We always welcome new ideas and
lots and lots of volunteers.

What happens at a PTA meeting?

At those meetings their will be an agenda and items that we need to discuss
and vote on. Being a member allows you to speak up and to vote. You may also
bring up a question of your own. This is the opportunity to share your
concerns and try to find answers or at least talk them out. Every concern or
topic is an important one so please don't feel nervous or shy. The best
ideas and solutions come from group conversations and teamwork. (Sorry, we
don't have the 6 winning LOTTO numbers.)

Do I have to attend PTA meetings to be involved and informed?

No. We understand that it is difficult for people to attend meetings. We try
to communicate through notes home and now with our new website.
You can contact any Medford PTA Board Member or Committee Chairperson to
find out how you can be involved in any event or activity. Attendance does
not affect involvement.
However, unfortunately not every matter discussed at the PTA meeting is
easily presentable on the website or a flyer. In addition, someone's
interpretation of what occured could be different than another's. If at all
possible, it is best to attend the meetings to find out first hand what was
voted on and discussed.
