HealthFourth Grade Health: Fourth grade health classes are every Tuesday. Students should have a folder with their name on it, loose leaf paper and a writing utensil for each class. A parent newsletter should come home at the beginning of every unit to detail information your child will be learning. Please participate in reinforcement and family activities your child will bring home.Homework assignments should be found in the agenda. Fourth grade students are currently learning about the proper care of their teeth. Fifth Grade Health: Students should have a 1 inch binder with paper, subject divider and writing utensil. This binder is to be shared with both health and physical education classes. Students should also come with their agenda to write down assignments for class. Mr. Blanchet's health class meets every Thursday and Miss Senatore's is on Friday. Fifth grade students are just beginning unit on the central nervous system. Students are learning about the functions of the various parts of the brain and the effects of drugs on the brain. They will talk about brain injuries and disorders of the nervous system and how they impact the brain and body. The students will use conflict resolution to help reduce the risk of brain injury and the role responsible decisions have in keeping one injury-free. Seventh Grade Health: Seventh grade students should come prepared to every class with their agenda, a 1" binder with divider, paper and writing paper to be shared in health and physical education. Health class meets every Thursday and Friday. Seventh grade students have been working on team building and will be exploring various methods of effective communication, including active and passive listening techniques and communication blockers. Students will participate in activities to promote positive communication and I statements. Students are also helping to plan and kick -off a school-wide event called Mix It Up Day which will involve tolerance and acceptance of others encouraging students to have lunch with peers they may not know alot about. Students will participate in group conversation starters to learn more about each other. Eighth Grade Health: Eighth grade students need to have their agenda, 1" binder with paper and writing utensil for every health and physical education class. Class meets every Tuesday and Thursday. The eighth grade is participating in leadership skills and activities which will be used in developing Red Ribbon Week lessons and activities in late October. The students will actively instruct a fifth grade class on harmful effects of alcohol and drug use. Please feel free to e-mail or call if you have any questions or concerns! Thank you!
