Fourth Grade

Welcome to Fourth Grade Music!

Independence! Freedom! 

In fourth grade, we build upon the foundation that has already been laid in previous grades. In addition to adding more complicated rhythms and solfege patterns, students in grade four begin learning about harmony- or multiple parts fitting together.

We start harmony by learning how to speak several rhythms at one time. We then add instruments to these rhythms. Xylophones and recorders are both excellent tools! Lastly, students begin singing in harmony in the form of rounds, canons, and part-singing.
