Myers Corners School was established in 1904 as a one room school house,
located at the southwest corners of Myers Corners Road and All Angels Hill
Road. Students attended the school until it was closed during the 1930's.
From then until 1967, students attended Wappingers Central School, which is
now Wappingers Junior High School. In 1967, Myers Corners Elementary School
opened at its present location for grades K - 6.
Today:
Today, Myers Corners School is lead by Principal Gail Wehmann and Assistant
Principal Jay Curtis. A staff of approximately 120 people serve almost 900
students. The building is divided into two sections. The K - 5 wing houses
approximately 550 students. The 6th grade Center serves approximately 350
students from three feeder schools: Myers Corners Elementary, Fishkill
Elementary and Sheafe Road Elementary. After these
students complete 6th grade at Myers, they move on to either Wappingers
Junior High School or Van Wyck Junior High School.
Myers Corners School also houses one of the three elementary ESL centers in
the district. Last year, approximately 45 students from various parts of the
world attended the ESL program at Myers. Our registration information
indicated that these students came from homes where 15 different languages
are spoken. This is but one of many qualities that make Myers Corners School
a very special place for children and adults!
